Complete rebrand
When I started this project, the club had no design direction. A website of different pictures and fonts, the first step was to create a brand. By creating a custom theme on google sites, it ensured continuity across the pages. I also created a logo to use as a favicon and add a personalized touch.
Elevating the user experience
The old landing page and navigation bar, as seen in the images below, were overwhelming for new users. The home page focused on old champion pictures and lacked vital information; making it unclear where to click. To streamline the content, I consolidated down to five pages and introduced an anchored navigation bar at the top for a more intuitive usability.
Adding new features
The website experiences a significant surge in traffic during tournaments, with users primarily seeking tournament schedules and game scores. To provide real-time updates without the need for separate website updates, I integrated the official tournament Google Sheet directly into the site. This feature ensured that the information remained current and was easily accessible on mobile devices, which was crucial for side-line updates. Additionally, I optimized user experience by adding a shortcut button on a banner for quicker game-time access.
As the website manager and apparel chair, I have the unique privilege to create both our digital brand and our physical merchandise. I love any opportunity to use as a canvas for my digital art! 😊
